Central Coast Area Health Education Center (AHEC)
The Health Projects Center’s Central Coast AHEC works to improve access to and the quality of health care for the medically underserved in Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties. Central Coast AHEC builds community-academic partnerships for health education and health workforce training. Central Coast AHEC is a partner in the State-wide California AHEC network. AHEC is supported by a Health Resources and Services Administration grant and the state of California.
Central Coast AHEC activities educate family practice medical residents and nursing students in geriatrics and chronic care management to meet the rapidly increasing health care needs of people in the Monterey Bay region. Central Coast AHEC works in partnership with the University of California San Francisco’s Natividad Medical Center Family Residency Program and Cabrillo College’s Nursing Program.

"The psychosocial needs of our service members and their families are serious, complex, and growing. Many civilian service providers want desperately to help but often lack the context and direction needed. These courses help bridge that gap. These courses are valuable tools in helping military communities and those who serve them." Brian W. Flynn, Ed.D. (RADM, USPHS, Ret)
